The Churchill unveils nautical terrace menu

The Churchill Bar & Terrace invites guests on a journey through the Adriatic and Mediterranean Sea with a new nautical terrace theme for summer 2018.

Inspired by Sir Winston Churchill’s travels with the Admiralty yacht HMS Enchantress during his appointment as First Lord of the Admiralty from 1911 to 1915, the award-winning alfresco terrace will turn into a maritime oasis featuring vintage nautical compasses, anchors, boat oars and sea shells bringing guests a step closer to the shores of Malta, Gibraltar and Capri.

The expert bar team, led by head bartender Daniele Bresciani, will be introducing a range of new summer and wastage free cocktails to accompany the nautical feel and tantalise everyone’s taste buds.

Seasonal specials include ‘Churchill’s Tot’ – a whisky and sweet vermouth concoction aged in a wooden barrel, ‘Lord Nelson’ created in honour of Admiral Nelson who led his fleet into victory at the battle of Trafalgar, ‘Jennies’ Bevvy’, a gin-based drink inspired by the courage of all women in the Royal Navy, as well as ‘The Winkle’, especially designed to honour the Winkle Club formed in 1900 by Hasting’s fishermen to provide help to the underprivileged. For every Winkle cocktail served, £1 will be donated to the Winkle Club.

To accompany The Churchill Bar’s nautical journey, executive chef Mark Sainsbury and his team have also created a refreshed summer menu inspired by the Mediterranean flavours and key destinations of Churchill’s travels. New dishes include a delicious ‘Fruit de Mer’ seafood platter, juicy Tagliata with homemade Chimichurri sauce, Aromatic Scallops and Dressed Crab Salad with avocado and mango dressing.
